Academics

Hunt Ridge Montessori School’s philosophy is grounded in the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. We create an environment where children can freely cultivate their natural desire to learn, supported by materials and routines that nurture independence, curiosity, and confidence. We honor the development of the whole child—social, emotional, cognitive, and physical—and encourage each child to grow at their own pace in a calm, noncompetitive atmosphere.

Our Primary Montessori classrooms are thoughtfully prepared academic environments that meet children at a key stage of development. Learning is hands-on, purposeful, and deeply engaging, allowing children to explore, practice, and master skills through meaningful work.

Through Practical Life activities, children develop concentration, independence, and coordination—skills essential for academic success.

The Sensorial materials refine the senses and help children classify, compare, and order information, laying the groundwork for logical thinking.

Language instruction supports early literacy through rich vocabulary, phonemic awareness, writing, and reading.

Mathematics is introduced concretely, enabling children to understand quantity, number relationships, and operations before moving to abstraction.

Cultural Studies integrates science, geography, history, art, and music, fostering curiosity about the world and a respect for diverse people and environments.

Grace + Courtesy teaches respectful social behaviors so they can move confidently and compassionately within their classroom community.
