Our History
Kathleen Zwahlen opened the doors of Hunt Ridge Montessori School in September 1983, welcoming six young children on their very first day. She was guided by a deep belief in the Montessori approach and the potential of every child.
Today, our community has grown to three vibrant primary classrooms serving children ages two years, eight months to six years old, all guided by the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori.
Children here are encouraged to think independently, engage deeply, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our school is built on a foundation of exploration, respect, and joyful engagement—values that guide every aspect of our classrooms. Kathleen’s steady devotion continues to shape the spirit and history of Hunt Ridge Montessori School today, ensuring that the values on which the school was founded remain central to its mission.
