* Flu Vaccine Required…… Does your child have their Flu Vaccine?
The State of Connecticut requires each child under the age of 5 years old to be vaccinated for the flu by December 31, 2020. Please provide the documentation from your child’s doctor that states your child has been given the Flu vaccine this Fall, 2020. Please submit the documentation to the school office so your child may join us on January 4, 2021 when we reopen after the winter break.
NEW event! Holiday Sing-A-Long
As we approach the holiday season we recognize that although we may be celebrating differently this year, we are still filled with hope for a new and healthy year ahead! With that in mind, the children will prepare a few songs to joyously share with their families on Thursday, December 10th. Please mark your calendar! This will be an outdoor event with the children on the steps of the school and family members socially distant in the parking and lawn area just opposite the front of the school. Please, no parking in these spaces. Instead cones will be placed on the asphalt and the lawn area to safely identify a place for your family to stand. Please choose a cone for your family and bundle up! We respectfully ask that only 2 adults per family attend. Younger siblings are of course welcome, but please remember that all attendees (ages 2 and older) must wear a mask and keep their distance from other families. We are so delighted that we will still be able to celebrate the season safely!
We will be taking the children outside each day for some fresh air. If the feels like temperature is 28 degrees or above, we will be outside. The children love being outside! Please send your child to school with a hat and gloves! This will help to keep them warm while playing on the playground.
Once it begins to snow….don‘t forget to send their boots and snow pants! We’ll take the time to get them ”geared up” before we go outside. Please take a minute to label all clothing and a bag for keeping these items. Sharpies work well. Most children like to have sneakers for play in the gym so it’s nice to send those on snow boot days. Their bag will go home each day so that you may wash and dry their wet/snowy items.
And…if it snows, we follow the Fairfield Public School decision. You may hear about this in many ways…the local radio stations, television: Channel 3, Channel 8 or Channel 12 news, or the direct phone line is:
*If Fairfield schools are DELAYED, we will open at 10:00am.
**If Fairfield School are closed, we are closed.
Travel Advisory – NEW! VT just added!!
If you travel to a "red state" (positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents), you will need to quarantine for 14 days before returning to The Hunt Ridge Montessori School. Currently, the CT state red list includes all US states with the exception of only NJ, RI, NY, USVI and HI. An affected traveler is exempt from the quarantine if (1) has had a test for COVID-19 in the seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival in Connecticut or at any time following arrival in Connecticut, (2) the result of such COVID-19 test is negative, AND (3) he or she has provided written proof of such negative test result. Nucleic acid tests such as reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests are the ONLY acceptable testing options. If you are awaiting your test results, the traveler shall remain in self-quarantine in Connecticut until a negative test result is submitted.
Rapid tests are NOT acceptable for this exemption.
Will HRMS remain open?
Fairfield's town dashboard (https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus/COVID-19-Data-Tracker) places the town in the red zone. The data across the entire state is a concern. Our goal is to keep HRMS fully open at this time. We will need everyone’s support to make this happen. The numbers are concerning and they speak to our need to continue collective vigilance in following mitigation strategies – wearing masks at all times, maintaining social distancing, washing hands frequently and increased sanitation of high touch areas and common spaces. We have a collective responsibility to stay home, and keep our children home, if they or we are not feeling well and to follow the expectations of quarantine if we are requested to do so. The health and well-being of our staff and students is our priority. We will continue to be guided by the Fairfield Health Dept and remain open as long as we continue to meet their safety requirements.
Lunch Boxes and Slippers
Most lunch boxes and slippers are machine washable. Please take the time to launder these items as necessary to help reduce germs in the school building. Please ask your teacher to send home your child’s slippers….perhaps on a Friday for washing over the weekend?! We’d be happy to help.
We restocked our Phonetic Readers at the beginning of the school year and the supply is getting low. Please check your bookshelves, backpacks and any other hiding places (maybe your back seat?) and return them to school so other children may have a chance to read them. Beginning December 1st, we will not be sending home any more Phonetic Readers. We’ll see how the returns come in and reevaluate the procedure in the New Year! Let’s hope for the best!
School will resume on Monday, January 4, 2021!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
